Psycho-emotional characteristics of a person largely depend on his or her genotype. For example, a phlegmatic person will never become choleric, and a choleric person will never become phlegmatic, no matter how their lives turn out. In our modern world, all people experience a variety of stressful situations: interpersonal conflicts, workplace and financial issues, diseases, the loss of beloved ones, natural disasters and many other stressful events. Most people endure such events without pathological side-effects. Stress resistance is a very important trait. However, 25-30% of the world’s population, i.e. every fourth person, suffers from pathologies caused by stress, including mental disorders (depression, anxiety, personality disorders etc.).

FAQs

Is special preparation required before providing test material?

No, it is not necessary. There is no need to follow a diet or perform any other special actions before providing material for testing. Taking medications, alcohol etc. will not affect genetic testing results either.

How soon will test results be ready?

Up to 35 working days from the date of signing an agreement. In fact, much sooner: 2-3 weeks.

What do I need to have with me to submit material for testing?

You should have your passport and money on you. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.

What are your working hours?

Our working hours for clients with a booked appointment and providing test results.
On working days: Monday ‒ Thursday, from 9:00 till 17:30; on Fridays: from 9:00 till 16:30.
Days off: Saturday & Sunday.

What biological material is collected for testing and how?

For testing, buccal epithelium (epithelium of the inner part of your cheeks) is collected with a special cotton swab. It is done by a client himself or herself in the presence of a laboratory diagnostics doctor. Blood is not collected.

Can I send biological material for testing by post?

Yes, it is possible. Please follow the link for detailed instructions. The test results can be received in hard copy by mail to your home directly. Where DNA cannot be isolated from the sample provided, you will need to reimburse the cost of the reagents used.

Dopaminergic system genes

DRD2 (939С/Т) dopamine receptor D2 gene

The minor allele T is associated with a decrease in the number of receptors that bind to dopamine. The allele carriers are characterized by increased anxiety, phobias, a tendency to depression and low stress resistance. The C/C genotype carriers are characterized by increased social activity, a high motivation for learning and resistance to depression and anxiety.

DRD2 (C/T rs1800497) dopamine receptor D2 gene

The minor genotype T/T carriers are characterized by decreased phenotypic emotional stability; they are characterized by a higher level of perceived stress. The carriers of C/C and C/T variants have a normal level of stress resistance. The T allele carriers have a decrease in the density of dopamine receptors by 30-40% in the striatum, which leads to decreased attention and learning ability and increased anxiety; an association with the reward deficiency syndrome and novelty seeking is observed.

COMT (472G>A) catechol-O-methyltransferase gene

The COMT gene encodes catechol-ortho-methyltransferase, a key dopamine enzyme. The allele A of the COMT gene is characterized by lower enzymatic activity, and therefore, by a higher dopamine level. The A allele carriers are characterized by an increased predisposition to stress and various obsessive states compared to G allele carriers, which is associated with a higher COMT enzyme activity, and therefore, with a normal dopamine level and higher stress resistance.

COMT (32519G>A) catechol-O-methyltransferase gene

The genotype A/A and the allele A are unfavorable in terms of the formation of a tendency to anxiety and are associated with the risk of bipolar depression development. A/G is an intermediate genotype; G/G is characterized by psycho-emotional stability.

DBH (4031T>C) dopamine beta-hydroxylase gene
