ADIPOQ (+276G > T) (adiponectin)

The gene is present in the following complexes:

DNA diagnostics for a predisposition to type 2 diabetes

Adiponectin has a protective function against hyperglycemia, insulin resistance and atherosclerosis. The G/T and T/T genotype carriers of the polymorphic variant +276G>T are characterized by a higher risk of insulin resistance development.

DNA diagnostics for a predisposition to metabolic syndrome

The ADIPOQ gene product (adiponectin) is a hormone secreted by white adipose tissue. The level of adiponectin in blood plasma is inversely proportional to the mass of adipose tissue and the waist-to-hip ratio (WHR). The -11391A allele carriers are characterized by lower weight and waist-to-hip ratio. The carriers of G/T and T/T genotypes of the polymorphic variant +276G>T are characterized by a higher obesity risk and insulin resistance.
